The T’au have some powerful Prototype Systems in the new codex. Get ready to start blasting away!

When it comes to fancy guns and experimental systems the T’au Empire run the show. They have some very impressive tech on the tabletop. We’ve already gotten a look at the frightening Railguns, their devastating Pulse Blastcannons, those updated Battlesuits, and their unique new Sept Rules. Today, Games Workshop is showing off some of the other Prototype Systems the T’au have been working on.

“…today we’re tackling the Prototype Systems, the stranger pieces of wargear your generals and aces can equip as one-off upgrades if your army is Battle-forged.”

New Prototype Systems Unleashed

First up, we have a look at the new Alternating Fusion Blaster. This gun is going to surprise a lot of targets.  You don’t want to get caught in this line of fire.

The range is  “only” 12″ so it might not be quite as devastating as it sounds in the description. However, if you get multiple units lined up, that’s still a lot of damage coming their way. It can hit each unit in a line one time — it’s not per model. Still, this could be quite a fun trick shot to attempt.

When it’s time to go on a bombing run be sure to pack some Internal Grenade Racks! It’s another D3 Mortal wounds on a 2+ and all you have to do is move across an enemy unit. Seems pretty doable for a Coldstar Battlesuit.

T’au Get Defensive

This Prototype System can help your Commanders or Crisis models shrug off the gravest of injuries. It’s a 4+ roll to not lose a wound for the whole turn. That’s a pretty potent ability and it can be activated after you fail your first saving throw. Handy!

The Ghostkeel Battlesuit has access to a rather nifty Prototype System. The E-H Disruption Suite is designed to mess with your opponent’s Command Points and Stratagems. This one makes them more costly to activate. If you can time it just right, you might be able to prevent CP expenditures or at least make them more costly.
