With the return of the Leagues of Votann aka the Squats we’re wondering what other armies could put from the days of yore!

We’re excited about the return of the Leagues of Votann. Honestly, we didn’t think this day would ever come. But GW slow rolled the teasers and it’s been literal years of build up to this point. That got us here at the BoLS HQ wondering what other armies has GW teased but is still keeping them in their back pocket? Here’s a few armies we’d like to see get a “return” …one day.

Traitor Guard

Games Workshop already HAS the models — and it’s way more than just two. Fans have been wanting a Traitor Guard army for a long time and it seems like such a natural fit. At this point it wouldn’t take much more for this army to become a reality. Obviously they’d need a codex. But the “basic” Guardsmen are done. There’s Chaos Kommissars and Ogyrn. Chaos Psykers I’m pretty sure there’s a chaos vehicle sprue laying around somewhere for Guard vehicles. Basically, Blackstone Fortress has ALL the Traitor Guard stuff…So what’s the hold up?

And speaking of Blackstone Fortress…

Dark Mechanicus

This is another army that is being teased by GW. Again, we’ve got the Blackstone Fortress models. We also have the Lord Discordant who’s rocking some Dark Mechanicus Iconography.

And we’ve also got all those Daemon Engines. We’re just sayin’ that maybe the Dark Mechanicus and Traitor Guard could form the third leg of the Chaos armies. It could join Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons to help round out the “mortal” followers of chaos. And again…they already have models.

Aeldari Corsairs/Exodites

Are you going to sit there and tell me that this ISN’T an army that GW is teasing? Sure, sure, Corsairs and Exodites are two different things. I get that. But c’mon. These Space Pirate/Ninjas need to get a full army release at some point. And while a certain sub-faction of Aeldari might have caused some recent ruckus, a future Aeldari Army should be punished because of a few clowns.

Corsairs or Exodites — it doesn’t matter. I think a combined army could work. But you don’t hire Clancy freakin’ Brown to voice the Exodite if you’re not looking to expand the interest in these armies.

Zoats

Zoats! Again, another army that has a model in the game and has also been teased. Yeah, they might be a super rare race with very few sightings. But Alligators can be really hard to spot before they strike. Slowly floating below the waterline before they explosively expose themselves onto their prey. And hey…would you look at that tail? Not saying they are related…

Point is maybe the Zoats have been secretly building up in the shadows. And maybe it’s about time for them to make a REAL comeback.

Hrud…Or Other Xenos?

Okay…so Hrud don’t have any miniatures. Or rather, they’ve never had any official miniatures. But they’ve gotten artwork over the years. Even if it’s varied wildly.

It’s almost like they combined the “Nocturnal Warrior of the Hrud with the Clawed Fiend of the Donorian Sector.

And it’s really funny because in this picture we get a look at some classic xenos that have popped-up in the game fairly recently. Kroot and Necrons are pretty obvious. There’s also the Enslaver there on the right. But how about that Ambul on the left?

And what is that other bug-like creature on the left?

You don’t think…nah…couldn’t be the same creature as the Dustback Helamites, do you?

Could the Hrud be in for a new army? I think it would be rather cool to see GW create an entire range for a Xenos army that’s only been hinted at in artwork. I think the design team could have a lot of freedom to create them from the ground up. No previous models to base their work on. No other rules to be compared to. Just a new Xenos army that’s been hinted at from the days of yore!

What would you like to see GW bring back from their old catalogue of armies?
