Get ready for some pretty scenery in a new Rings of Power teaser.

Amazon’s The Rings of Power is coming out in a few months. We’ve got a ton of pictures for it by now and it’s starting to look amazing. Last week we got some new TV spots that were  pretty cool. Now a new trailer is showing off more of the world.

Big  Sky Stone

The teaser doesn’t really give us any hints as to plot  or story this time around. It’s not short, but there isn’t much dialogue. It’s mostly a series of scenery shots, and  shots of most of the important characters. They all seem to be looking up at the sky and watching a meteor fly across it. At the end the meteor crashed into the ground. Given the way teasers are cut its totally possible most of these shots don’t actually reflect the characters watching the meteor in the show, but it does tie it together.

Seems Familiar

Now, I’m not going to lie, this kind of reminds me of another major fantasy show. Game of Thrones also has a pretty important dramatic celestial event that pretty much all the main cast end up staring up at at some point. Sure one is a comet and the other a meteor, but still. I know Amazon wants Rings of Power to be there GoT, but I’m not sure I would have been quite so on the nose about it!

Stunning Landscapes in the New Rings Of Power Teaser

Whatever else you want to say about this show, it looks damn pretty so far. A lot of the teaser was showing off landscapes. We see Elf, Man, and Dwarf-made buildings and they all looked great. I am really loving the monumental architecture the Númenóreans use. In the trilogy, we only get to see the remnants of what was effectively a colony for them. One worn down by years and wars and half in ruin. Even so, sights like Minas Tirith and the Argonath are iconic both within the setting and in the real world. Seeing Númenóreans  at their height is pretty cool.

Also more elf stuff. It does look like the show is taking some effort to distinguish between the different types of elves, which is also nice. Overall it looks like whatever else you can say about it, this will be a pretty show.

ENTS!

For me what was likely the biggest surprise of the teaser was that it looks like we are getting Ents. One of the last shots seems to show off an Ent watching the meteor shot across the sky. I think Ents are pretty cool, so I’m always happy when we get them in something. Of course since this is the Second Age this makes total sense for them to be around – they were a lot more active at that time. In fact, the Entwives were still around in the Second Age and we’ve never seen them. Overall it really seems like the show is working to explore a lot of aspects of Middle Earth, and that could be really cool.

Let us know what you want to see most, down in the comments!
