The original big bads are back for Warmachine Mark IV, and they’re better than ever. Meet the Orgoth Preview Box

GenCon has come and gone, but it hasn’t left us without gifts.

Alongside all the celebrity meetups and gaming events, gaming companies of all kinds unveiled some of their brand new releases. Fans of the Iron Kingdoms got their first look at the new armies for Warmachine Mk. IV, and those in attendance were able to pick up the first three model preview kits. Probably the most exciting release was the new Orgoth, the original baddies that started all the mess in the Iron Kingdoms in the first place. The models are absolutely gorgeous, and their rules are perfect for a murderous force like this.

Horruskh, The Thousand Wraths

Leading the small box is Horruskh, a brand new Warcaster for the Orgoth. He is decked out in spikes, furs, and cruel weapons worthy of a warrior of darkness. The warlord has a respectable statline, with a nasty 8 MAT, meaning all but the highest defenses will be no protection from him. He’s just fine on the defensive too, with a DEF of 14 and an ARM of 18, a high combination for a Warcaster. If the enemy does break through his defenses, he has Tough, so he’s going to be hard to put down.

Befitting the raider theme of the Orgoth, all his warriors are stronger while he’s on the battlefield, and his Feat gives out +3 ARM, Knockdown Immunity, and +1 to Tough rolls for a turn. His sword hits for a heavy 17 Strength with a 2″ reach, allowing him to crack enemy armor with ease. For spellcasting, his racked spells allow him to either hurl his enemies into one another with a blast of force or teleport to a more advantageous position. All in all, he’s a raid leader dialed to 11, and he’s going to make the battlebox a nasty one.

Jackal Light Warjack

The smaller of the two included ‘jacks, the Jackal still packs plenty of punch. Its head and both arms are modular, giving you tons of options for customization. In fact, there are 64 possible combinations! The head can either give you Advanced Deployment, extra charge against non-constructs, Berserk, or the always useful arc node. Each arm provides you with weapon options to customize your critter, from Flamethrowers and Rifles to Blades, Claws, or a Shield. On top of all that, the Jackal can charge without spending focus, saving the point for more punches. Best of all, the kit includes plenty of magnets, allowing you to change your loadout from game to game. No matter what role you need, the Jackal has you covered.

Tyrant

The Jackal’s big angry brother, the Tyrant trades the light ‘jack’s mobility for punch power. It has just as many options as the Jackal, but all the options are focused on dealing the most damage and holding the line. It can override cover, absorb spells, or charge over terrain with no issue depending on your build. Both arms can also be customized to have a nasty array of weapons, like explosive launchers, wicked claws, or a cannon shield. It’s a gorgeous piece, and will definitely find it’s way into every Orgoth list.
