Rebel Moon was the stand-out in Netflix’s 2023 preview, but the Zack Snyder project is not the only thing to look forward to this year.

Netflix dropped this year’s movie preview which includes the first look at Rebel Moon as well as a ton of other upcoming titles with big stars. There’s a little bit for everyone from comedy and action to drama, suspense, and romance. It’s going to be a busy year – make sure you mark your calendar so you don’t lose track.

Luther: The Fallen Sun (March 10)

Idris Elba returns as gruff and brilliant DCI John Luther.

“A gruesome serial killer is terrorizing London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther (Idris Elba) sits behind bars. Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary.”

Murder Mystery 2 (March 31)

Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are back – this time Nick and Audrey Spitz are now full-time detectives. The couple is having a hard time getting their new business off the ground when they find themselves at the center of an international scandal. You can watch the first movie on Netflix now.

The Mother (May 12)

Another action thriller – while fleeing from dangerous assailants, an assassin (Jennifer Lopez) comes out of hiding to protect her daughter she left behind earlier in her life. The movie is directed by Niki Caro and also stars Omari Hardwick, Joseph Fiennes, and Gael García Bernal.

Summer 2023

Extraction 2 (June 16)

This is one of the projects tied to the deal the Russo Brothers signed with Netflix. The sequel is directed by Sam Hargrave – who strapped a camera to his chest while doing some dangerous stunts to get the right shot for the first movie. The sequel is pumping the action and stunts up. Take a look…

 

 

They Cloned Tyrone (July 21)

Like pulpy mystery capers? Make sure you have this movie from Juel Taylor on your calendar. A series of weird events puts an unlikely trio onto the trail of a nefarious government experiment. John Boyega’s face in this opening scene is fantastic, and it just gets better from there.

Heart of Stone (August 11)

An action thriller from Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders) about intelligence agent Rachel Stone (Gal Gadot), who works for a powerful peacekeeping organization. She’s the only one in the organization that can protect a dangerous and valuable asset. It also stars Jamie Dornan and Alia Bhatt that looks to have plenty of heart-pounding action.

 

Lift (August 25)

Lift is about an international heist crew that’s recruited to prevent a terrorist attack – on a plane, mid-flight. It’s led by Kevin Hart, who is joined by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D’Onofrio, Billy Magnussen, and Sam Worthington.

Fall 2023

Damsel (October 13)

Millie Bobby Brown plays a princess that agrees to marry a prince only to discover the marriage was a trap. The family plans on using her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt and throws her into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon. She has to survive on her wits and her will alone. From Oscar-nominated director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

Pain Hustlers (October 27)

A mother wants to create a better life for herself and her daughter, so she goes to work at a bankrupt pharmacy. She helps turn the place around knowing she will soon be in the middle of a criminal conspiracy – just to get a taste of the high life. It stars Emily Blunt, Chris Evans, and Andy Garcia.

The Killer (November 10)

The movie is based on the graphic novel by Alexis Nolent and Luc Jacamon, which follows a nameless assassin at the top of his game as he starts to crack under the stress. It’s directed by the indomitable David Fincher and stars Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton.

Leave the World Behind (December 8)

Based on the book of the same name by Rumaan Alam. A family’s vacation on Long Island is disrupted by strangers relaying the news of a perplexing blackout. As the threat grows, the two families must decide the best path to survival while dealing with how they fit into a collapsing world. It stars Ethan Hawke, Myha’la, Farrah Mackenzie, Charlie Evans, and Kevin Bacon.
