Star Wars: Rebellion Overview
Star Wars: Rebellion is an asymmetrical competitive area-control game with hand and resource management. It plays like a combination of Risk and Fury of Dracula. Each side has its own objective. The Rebels are attempting to survive long enough to garner enough support to overthrow the Empire to win the game. But, if the Empire can hunt down and destroy the rebel base before that happens, they win.
During the Rebels’ turn, they will be attempting to perform Objectives in order to increase their support throughout the galaxy, which means fewer turns of running around and hiding. Meanwhile, the Empire is using probe droids to scout the galaxy in attempting to find the rebel base and subjugating other systems in their way. It’s a careful balance of both sides working towards their own means while attempting to slow down the other with various Missions they can undertake.
Through sabotage, combat, and proper allocation of resources, the rebels are fighting an uphill battle against the oppressive empire that seems to already be around every corner. Star Wars: Rebellion is a game with a huge scope and is deeply strategic. It’s won multiple awards for strategic gameplay and for the theme. And after playing a single turn, you’ll see why.
