Assault of the Giants is not only a great game but comes with giant Giant minis that make this game tower above the rest.

There are plenty of board games for when you’re bored of D&D, but if Assault of the Giants isn’t on your radar, it should be. Assault of the Giants is a competitive Dungeons & Dragons strategy game. Each player controls a clan of Giants and fights for their chance to rule over all giant-kind. Players gain points through assaulting settlements, but each race of giants also has its own special objective to fulfill as well.

Assault of the Giants Overview

One of the main mechanics of the game is the Command Cards. The cards are used to take action during each player’s turn. Each card has an upper and lower section and is performed in order of how they are played. In addition to performing the top section of the card, the active player also gets whatever bonus is listed on the bottom for each card that is to the left or right of that card.

It’s a simple concept that turns into a really engaging balance of decisions that benefit you without helping your opponents too much.

Assault of the Giants is one of those games that is super easy to pick up and play. The general mechanics are simple enough on their own. However, the higher level strategy comes from seeing each action affect the next and how that ripple effect can ultimately decide the outcome of the game. It’s the sort of game that you’ll appreciate the more times you play, in wanting to try a different strategy each time.

The Minis Alone Make It Worth It

The game contains 12 Giant minis, for hill giants, fire giants, storm giants, and more. The minis range in height from 60mm to over 90mm! These minis obviously work with the game itself but are a great way to really amplify your games of Dungeons & Dragons.

The premium edition includes everything from the standard edition, however, all of the minis come fully painted! If you’re not a hobbyist, this is the best option for high-quality minis for your D&D games. But, you’ll have a great time with the game itself too. It’s a fun and engaging game with tons of strategic depth.

Plus, giants are just cool.

Is anyone else getting Ganondorf vibes?
