Warhammer Fest may have shown us some heroes, but I’m already hungry for more!

Warhammer Fest has come and gone, and regardless of your disappointment levels (mine were minimal but not absent) we saw some pretty awesome stuff. We got more insight into the upcoming new edition of Warhammer 40K, saw some gnarly new Age of Sigmar heroes, and even got a peek at a plastic Knight Cerastus coming to Horus Heresy.

One thing that really got my attention though was the pair of Old World heroes that GW casually dropped on our doorstep. We saw a gorgeous Tomb King with a scepter and a khopesh, ready to face off against a Bretonnian Paladin armed with a massive claymore and standing over his latest conquest. I’ve made no secret about being a huge fan of Warhammer Fantasy, so I was really excited to see the reimagining of some of my favorite warriors. But…I want to see more! I know there’s a lot more waiting in the wings, but I’m impatient.

The Return of the Sphinx

The Khemrian Warsphinx is one of my favorite models of all time.  I love the skeletal head, the golden armor, and the idea of a living statue ready to do the bidding of its regal master. The Necrosphinx is awesome as well, but the Warsphinx will always have a special place in my heart as the mount of one of my first heroes, a Tomb King named Surya. Now that we’ve seen an updated infantry Tomb King, I want the return of his most prized mount, especially if it’s still modular and can be built as the monster-slaying Necrosphinx.

Plastic Pegasus Knights

Now that we have an infantry Paladin, the next step is obviously a mounted variant. What better place to start than the noble Pegasus? I had a friend who played Bretonnia a great deal, and he loves his Pegasus Knights. To both of us, the represented the epitome of Bretonnian heroism combined with the Fey Enchantress’s ethereal magic. They are powerful cavalry and gorgeous centerpiece models, and they deserve a rework something fierce. I just hope we aren’t stuck with the only single model variants and get full boxed units!

Forest Dragon

While the Wood Elves weren’t revealed at Warhammer Fest, we already know they’re coming soon. We’ll likely get the archers of the Glade Guard, Hawk Riders, and maybe even Oberon himself! However, I want the OG deadly forest critter, the Forest Dragon. Regardless of whether or not the Sisters of Twilight are mounted on top, I want to be able to take a beast of the woodlands and plop it down on the table to terrify my opponents. While I’m not sure we’ll have ANYTHING that big in the new game, I’m still holding out hope.

What do you hope we see next?
