Games Workshop has another online preview coming this year at the NOVA Open next week. Here’s a few things we want to see in Age of Sigmar.

With the NOVA Open a week out Games Workshop has already announced they are hosting an Online Preview. We also know the systems that will be covered and it’s quite a few! Right now we’re just going to focus on Warhammer: Age of Sigmar with a handful of things we hope show up in at the big show.

NOVA Open Age of Sigmar Wishlisting

Let’s start with the obvious stuff. Above we have the roadmap direct from GW. We’re on the cusp of a Cities of Sigmar release already. So we really don’t need to get into that particular book. However, we know what’s leading the charge next…

#1 – More Orruks!

GW already showed off the new Orruk Big Boss model that’s going to be featured again at the NOVA Open. And there’s a certain Warpig we’ve all been waiting for since it’s reveal in April — where the heck is that model?!

Well, we know there’s a new Dawnbringers book coming after the Cities of Sigmar Battletome. And it’s got a BIG Orruk icon on it…so does that mean these models will be out for that book or will we see the Orruks get a new book in the Winter? That’s what we’re hoping to find out at NOVA!

#2 – Dawnbringer Book Reveals

Continuing the theme, we’re hoping that GW just goes ahead and reveals the next Dawnbringer books. Just drop the titles/images for Books 2, 3, and 4. The first book, Harbingers, also released with four boxed sets that each featured a new Regiment of Renown as well as a new hero-type for their respective faction. I’m wondering if GW is going to do the same with the other books. I have a feeling that the Book II is going to have the Orruk Big Boss in charge of an Orruk Regiment of Renown. Maybe we’ll see another box or two as well.

#3 – The New Battletome Reveal

The Orruk Warclans book was designed for the current edition. However, it’s getting a little long in the tusk at this point. I don’t know exactly what GW’s plan is here but signs are showing that the Orruks are due for an update and that could happen in the Winter time. Either way, I hope we get confirmation of what the new book is at NOVA — even if it’s not the Orruk Battletome.

Personally, I think this is has the highest chance at being the book. We’re not getting a new army for AoS this year (that’s already happening with the Cities of Sigmar revamp) and the Maw-Grunta is right there looking for a release window. I could see GW revisiting any of the older Battletomes and I would absolutely love to be surprised here. But if I was forced to bet, I’d put money on a new Orruk Battletome.

#4 – Post Dawnbringer Plans Revealed

The new General’s Handbook for the rest of 2023-24 is out. While GW is still collecting data on the new Meta of Age of Sigmar, I’m kind of over this GHB already. Look, I know it’s real early but the Battle Tactics in this book are a massive shift from the previous GHBs. While that’s not a bad thing by itself (hey, I don’t mind a challenge) when you combine that with a few of the missions in the book that are …let’s call them “overly designed” and the heavy focus on magic this season it’s just a bit of an overload. Oh and this book is sticking around for a full year.

I’m not sure what GW is planning to do about Age of Sigmar in 2024, but I hope it’s something BIG and exciting. I’m sure Dawnbringers is going to shake the lore up once again. I just wonder what the heck is going to happen afterwards!

#5 – Points Adjustments, Please!

Again, I know it’s still really early in the overall season, but there’s some outliers at both ends of the spectrum here. Honestly, I think a lot of these win-rates have to do with the new Battle Tactics and Missions from the GHB but, forgoing a new GHB in a couple months, the only other lever GW can realistically pull is more points changes right now. I think the overperforming armies have a combination of great unit choices and in-Battletome Battle Tactics that are easy to score. While the bottom of the list might have the other issues (like mobility) and “not great” in-Battletome Battle Tactics. Who knows, maybe by September we’ll see an even bigger shift, plus Cities of Sigmar is likely going to be out by then, too!

What are you hoping to see from Age of Sigmar at the NOVA Open preview?
