Lord of the Rings: Duel For Middle-Earth is more than a reskin, but not a fully new game. New mechanics put in right in the Middle …Earth.

Asmodee has announced via Instagram a new Lord of the Rings game, which will be heavily based on 7 Wonders: Duel.

As of right now, there is not much news about this new title from Asmodee. However, we know this won’t be just a reskin of 7 Wonders: Duel. The tokens seen at the bottom of the image hint at new mechanics. Plus, the Repos Productions Facebook post about the announcement has a few additional details in the comments. They are in French, but Google Translate does a decent job.

The players will choose between the Free People and the Armies of Mordor. There will be new mechanics based on the tokens and figures seen in the image. Plus, there is a small map visible in the background of the above image on the left.

Lord of the Rings: Duel For Middle-Earth is being developed by Antoine Bauza and Bruno Cathala, and illustrated by Vincent Dutrait. Bauza worked on 7 Wonders, but also Takenoko, Hanabi, Ghost Stories, and plenty more. Cathala has also worked on 7 Wonders, but also Five Tribes, Splendor, Cyclades, and plenty more as well. So this has a great design team backing it up.

Plus, Dutrait has done art for games like Heat, Robinson Crusoe, Jaipur, and more.

The game is currently expected to launch Fall 2024. So expect more news very soon!
