Goatboy here to talk about how to mop the floor with Sisters and “Kid Sisters” aka allied Sisters anyone can easily add to your lists.

So the big 40k chatter this week was the new Sisters book.  I am happy it came out and I just hope it comes out in a Hard Copy so we don’t have to pull out some digital device to prove our combi-bullets cause brain farts on Professor X’s.  My opinion on the whole Condemnor issue is that it hits a unit, causes a Perils of the Warp effect, which can only effect Psykers, and so it flows on over to the mental giant and causes a wound.  But hey, obviously we need an FAQ because people want to argue against that in order to save their jerk-hole armies.

With that out of the way let’s just go into what I think about this new book.  For one thing I am happy as it feels like a book instead of a small set of ads for an army you can’t really buy.  The rules feel like rules and it seems that army actually has a real sense of design.  Yes Faith got another kick the junk again but we all knew this was just a stop gap into what it was officially going to be.  GW has been on a kick with this whole once a game “mini-Feat” choice and it fits the whole idea of Faith equaling the power of the Emperor flowing through them.  So bravo GW for making a correct army rule that feels fluffy and still makes for fun effective choices during the game.

If you have a full Sisters army – then good for you.  Most of use will only look at this army as an ally choice so the first list thoughts will go into Ally options instead of full army options.  The only Battle Brother the Sisters have is the IG.  Thank goodness GW decided to not let Tau love them some sisters.  Could you imaging the Super Buff Commander running around with huge blobs of Sisters doing high fives?

Sisters minimus…
As IG are Battle Brothers with Sisters there are a lot more ally options to create some really bonkers lists.  Let’s look at Sisters Main with the idea to use very little Sisters models.  I know this is kind of bonkers but I am looking at this from a new player’s point of view and buying those metal models is not cheap.

Sisters Of Battle Main / IG Side – 1850pts

HQ: Cannoness, Rosarius, Power Axe, Mantle of Ophelia, Comdemnor Boltgun
– Basic HQ choice designed to activate the Anti-Psyker option that this book is going to give out to people.

HQ: Sororitas Command Squad, Comdemnor Boltgun X 5, Immolator, Multi-Melta
– This is your basic Anti Psyker choice.  Not sure on if the Immolator is worth it for them, but a Multi-Melta is a great choice to have.

HQ: Ministorium Priest X 4, Eviscerator X 2
HQ: Battle Conclave – Upgrade to 5 and Upgrade to Crusaders, Immolator, Multi-Melta
HQ: Battle Conclave – Upgrade to 5 and Upgrade to Crusaders, Immolator, Multi-Melta
– I like to use units that allow some Tie up options.  The two sets of Crusaders and Priests will be good at making sure those Wraithknights don’t get to close.  They are just great at tying units up and with the Heavy flamer option on the Immolator they can be useful to burn guys off the table top.  The other two Priests are for the two IG Blobs.

IG HQ: Primarius Psyker
– Went with something simple for the IG.  It also gives you a chance to get Endurance on a unit or two and help keep those guys in the back.  Plus it is a cool looking model.

Troops: Battle Sisters Squad X 5, Heavy Bolter, Rhino
Troops: Battle Sisters Squad X 5, Heavy Bolter, Rhino
– Right now we are looking at 16 Sisters to complete this army.  That isn’t bad and again we are trying to make this list with as little Sisters Models so you can to try to save some money.

Troops: IG – Infantry Platoon – 3 Squads of Infantry with Autocannon, Power Axe, Command Squad in a Chimera
Troops: IG – Infantry Platoon – 3 Squads of Infantry with Autocannon, Power Axe, Command Squad in a Chimera
– This is just the base where you will control the backfield.  Two Priest join each Blobbed up unit and makes them Fearless and a pain in the butt to get rid of.  As the Priests are IC’s they can throw off wounds that target them on a 2+.  Not to bad eh?

Heavy: Exorcist
Heavy: Exorcist
– I know, I know… copy and paste but these models are easier to convert then say the walking robots with girls strapped to them.  It also doesn’t help that these are some of the best choices for Sisters in the heavy slot.  As the game doesn’t have a ton of Armor 14 running around these guys should get the job done killing just about anything on the field.  Also Armor 13 is a pain to remove.

So there is a basic Sisters Main list with 16 total metal Sisters and 5 Vehicles you can convert from other pieces to create the army.  It seems like a board control army and I am not sure if it even works well.  I do think a lot of lists would have a hard time remove all of these models.

Sororitus MAXIMUS
Here is a straight Sisters list if I had a lot of money or just had a ton of Sisters.  I know some buddies who have been waiting for this for awhile and started the metal collection train years ago.  This is designed to be a board control list as well and looks like a pain to try and break through.

It starts the same as the other – just uses Straight ladies instead of adding those pesky IG.

Take Back the Night with Holy Bullets V.1 – 1850pts

HQ: Saint Celestine
HQ: Cannoness, Comdemnor Boltgun
HQ: Sororitas Command Squad, Comdemnor Boltgun X 5, Immolator
– You have the Saint to make things a pain in the butt with lots of rerolls everywhere.  Plus she is just a pain in the butt.  The basic Anti Psyker choice is going to be in a lot of lists too.

HQ: Ministorium Priest X 3, Eviscerator
HQ: Battle Conclave – Upgrade to 5 and Upgrade to Crusaders, Immolator, Multi-Melta
– I really like the idea of keeping big things at bay for awhile with 3++ save guys.  That Daemon prince gets knocked down and you can charge in and keep him there.  It is a bit expensive but the 2 extra Priests you get will help keeping two blobs of Sisters sitting around for awhile.  The hidden super chainsaw is a help too.

Troops: Battle Sisters Squad X 20, Heavy Bolter, Meltagun, Simulacrum Imperialis
Troops: Battle Sisters Squad X 20, Heavy Bolter, Meltagun, Simulacrum Imperialis
Troops: Battle Sisters Squad X 5, Hvy Flamer, Flamer, Immolator
Troops: Battle Sisters Squad X 5, Hvy Flamer, Flamer, Immolator
– I went with two big blobs of sisters that will have attached Priests to keep them still.  The two Immolator squads are there to move up and flame people off of objectives.  They can also start in reserves as well to help out and come on fast.  I think this massed amount of flamers will be good as we start to move into larger blob armies coming out in the future.  Think of how the Ork army is going to be as well as Nids.

Heavy: Exorcist, Laud Hailer
Heavy: Exorcist, Laud Hailer
Heavy: Exorcist, Laud Hailer
– I added the Laud Hailer as these models are sitting in the back and just plan on shooting things.  It is annoying but the Exorcist does everything this army needs – long range firepower, good Strength/AP/Shot output, and a hard body to remove.  I just wish the other choices here had a longer range of firepower.  Heck just give the Sisters a Predator.  Call it the “Ruler of Justice” and have it shoot a bucket of Autocannon bullets.  Or Holy Cannon Bullets of the Emperor’s Wrath of Injustice.

So this list is a big blob of guys designed to hold the back field, move up, and control the Center.  Still this list is scary to see across the field as you know you have to get mixed in to have any hope in removing all of these bodies.  Plus it has tools to beat up a lot of the big lists that are out there today.

“The Kid Sister”
I said I wanted to go over with the cheapest ally option with the Sisters.  Here is the quick list you will see if people are too scared of Psykers.

Die Psychic Jerks DIE!!

HQ: Cannoness, Condemnor Boltgun
HQ: Sororitas Command Squad, Comdemnor Boltgun X 5, Immolator
Troops: Battle Sisters Squad X 5
Heavy: Exorcist

435pts on the nose.  You could add more if you wanted too, but this is pretty much the cheapest option you have to get a nice and simple Sisters/Anti Psyker ally.

Let’s break down the cost and see if it fits under $130.00 bucks (Battleforce cost).  You will need to tweak some of the bolt guns to look cooler and thus reference the Condemnor bolt guns.  I would look at some of the Sternguard bolters or find a way to add a cool clip underneath.

4 Packs of 3 Sisters = $17.25 X 4 = $51.75.
You will have 2 extra Sisters but it ends up saving you a lot.  You will want to spruce up the Cannoness with stuff from the GK sprue and other bits and pieces. I still think it is crazy they have all this metal laying around.

1 Immolator = $37.25
Awesome that this kit isn’t made of crazy metal, resin, or something else they could charge a lot for.

1 Exorcist = $57.75
Here is the kick in the pants.  Now of course we could convert things.  I think just taking an Immolator and adding the Missile packs from a Valkyrie might be a better  choir.  It cuts out 20 bucks and keeps this army at under $130.00.

Those are my initial list thoughts about the Sisters book.  I think they will be a spoiler army as most players won’t prepare for them.  They also do a good job delivering bullets to enemy faces.  I think this type of release is pretty cool as it is the first “digital” codex with big changes to the rules of the army.  This gives me hope for those rumored Chaos Legion books as well as some of the other more interesting old armies (Genestealer Cults, Speed Freaks, Lost and the Damned).

Do you have a friend that has been hoarding a Sisters army?  Are you scared that those severe haircut ladies are going to come to your house, kick down the door, and steal that game from you?
