Goatboy here and we all know I love Chaos. Take a look as my first new CSM codex list. It’s all possessed and full of creepy crawlies!

I can’t help it – the armor, the models, and the fluff all call to me.  So how excited must I be to finally get ahold of the Chaos Space Marine book and brew up a new list or two.  You know will see more than one list coming from me these next few weeks.  I think the only thing to knock me off the Chaos Star Train is if we see a Daemon codex coming quickly on the heels of the ultimate 40k bad guys.

We’ll start with what my army is mostly painted like.  I fluctuate between Red Corsairs and Word Bearers due to my love of the Possessed dataslate.  I ended up having a ton of the Forgeworld ones as well as some other combo’d pieces using some AOS Khorne options.  The idea of running a ton is pretty dang neat and I think will start with that in a list.  I was thinking about doing a Land Raider list – but will leave that for a World Eater idea I have rolling around in my head.

Let’s do the Red Corsair list as I like the idea of Advance and Charge options that count as more bodies on objectives.  As we know the new version of 40k starts with less CP. So we have to carefully think if we need 6 CP to start. Or do we start with 4 CP and only 1 Warlord/Relic?  That seems to be the biggest dance to think about with the army as HQ’s help a lot to even some things out.

Tactics of Ruin!

This is a pretty simple army utilizing the Legionaries to gain some extra Dark Heriticus spells and some fun combos to make very tough Lord Discordants.  The Warlord with the Mark of Tzeentch and Gorget of Eternal Hate ends up having a +2 to his armor from Armor of Contempt and the Relic, ignoring the first failed save, and having a 5+ FNP.  The Other Lord disco is set up for have d3 extra Chain glaive attacks and then d3 extra Bladed Limbs extra attacks.  With the Flames of Spite combo on top he can reroll to wound and every 6 causes a mortal wound.  This little beast will be a pain in the butt too as the army runs around the tabletop.  The two Maulerfiends are bully units that should shoot up the field and cause problems.

I COMMAND you to grab the new codex!

Oh and the 3 Venomcrawlers mean I can help cast spells as well as utilize their Advance and charge options.  Those might get swapped out for some shooting options but I am not sure if it is worth it.  It is still a ton of beef on the tabletop that can quickly get to you.  That is the whole thought of this list a wave of Beef to keep you locked in your zone. I still wonder if throwing in some Heldrakes with flamers might also do some fun things – but that is a thought for another time.

For the Warmaster!
