‘Doctor Who’: Ncuti Gatwan Reveals the First Look at His New Doctor

The Doctor has always been known for their charming (if not unusual) sense of fashion. And Ncuti Gatwa’s new Doctor is no different!

The newest addition to the Doctor’s long line of regenerations is Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa. Along with the return of the Doctor, the new season will bring the return of showrunner Russel T. Davies.

Ncuti Gatwa Reveals the Doctor’s Next Look

Scarves, Converse, bowties – the Doctor is a snazzy dresser. And while the Doctor has never shied away from a bold pattern or a bright color, Gatwa is clearly here to level up the game. You can see the full look below thanks to Gatwa’s Instagram.

There’s plenty to be excited about here. Those pants! That sweater! Those shoes! This is a dapper Doctor, and I’m ready for it.

What’s very interesting about this look has little to do with the clothing though. I’m about that mustache! The last (and only) time the Doctor has had facial hair was John Hurt’s War Doctor. This may not have any bearing on the tone of Gatwa’s Doctor, though – this Doctor could just have more swagger.

The Future of Doctor Who

Last spring, Doctor Who fans received word that Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa would be the new face of the next Doctor. He’ll be taking on his new role sometime during the events of the 60th-anniversary event. We also recently found out that Gatwa’s first companion has also been cast.

We’re all waiting (kinda) patiently for the Doctor Who 60th anniversary special. In the meantime, we’ve learned that David Tennant, the face of the beloved Doctor Ten, will be returning as Doctor Fourteen? Yup, that’s what happened! During the last season’s finale, Tennant ushered in an exciting (and confusing) new storyline.

Fourteen will also have a new companion named Rose. She’s reportedly the daughter of my personal favorite companion Donna Noble.  And somewhere wrapped up in all of this will be Neil Patrick Harris.
