Sabine Wren is joining the cast of the live-action Ahsoka series on Disney+.

There’s been speculation about whether or not Sabine Wren and/or Ezra Bridger from Rebels would be joining the cast of the live action series since its announcement. One of the characters has been confirmed, along with the name of the actress. According to Deadline:

“Natasha Liu Bordizzo has been cast as a lead opposite Rosario Dawson in the Disney+ limited series Star Wars: Ahsoka, a spinoff from the streamer’s hit series The Mandalorian, I have learned. I hear Bordizzo will be taking on the character of Sabine Wren from the Star Wars Rebels animated series.”

You might recognize Bordizzo from Netflix’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny and The Society. Her credits also include The Voyeurs, Guns Akimbo, and Hotel Mumbai. I think she’ll make a great Sabine – she’s got stunt work experience that includes sword fighting and she has the acting chops.

The actress will be joining Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christianson in the new show that is written by Dave Filoni and executive produced by Filoni and Jon Favreau. not a lot is known about the plot of the series, but the more casting we get the better guesses we can make about it.

Rumor has it the show will continue a plot line from Rebels – Ahsoka’s journey to find Ezra Bridger. The protagonist of the series vanished during the battle for his home world, and was last seen with a Grand Admiral Thrawn. The addition of Sabine to the cast of characters leans more into that being a possibility – plus there are those other rumors.

We’ll find out when the show premieres in 2023. They’re set to start filming this upcoming March.
