The new year has plenty of exciting new shows for Star Wars fans. Here’s what I’m looking forward to the most.

2023 promises to be a pretty good year for Star Wars TV. We’ve got a ton of shows coming out. Some are brand new and some are continuing shows.

5. The Bad Batch Season 2

This year sees the release of the second season of the animated Bad Batch show. In fact, by the time you read this, the first episodes of the season will have already aired. Continuing on from The Clone Wars and season 1 of The Bad Batch the show follows a handful of “defective” Clone Troopers who fight the Empire. It’s a great premise and the period right after the Clone Wars isn’t one that’s very well explored. This is a show we are looking forward to this year, but as it comes out right now, don’t have to really look forward to it for long.

4. Skelton Crew

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew promises to be a little bit of a different type of Star Wars show. The show, starring Jude Law, has been pitched as a coming-of-age show, along the lines of Goonies. Overall this seems like a cool take on Star Wars.

Reports say the show, which is live-action, will follow a group of children lost in space. Since it is set in post-RoTJ period, it might tie into other Disney+ shows. However, there does appear to be some debate if it will come out in 2023. While it was originally announced to come out this year, it seems there were some delays in filming. This could push the show’s release back.

3. Ahsoka

via Lucasfilm

This year sees the release of the much anticipated Ashoka show. For many, it’s the show they are most looking forward to this year. The fan-favorite not-a-Jedi will get to take center stage in what promises to be an epic experience. Still, we don’t know a ton about the plot. However, it does seem to be taking place alongside Mando in the same post-RoTJ period as a lot of Disney+ shows. We’ve also got some news that other characters from Rebels have been cast for it. Likely it will involve Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra and we can’t wait for it.

2. Visions Season 2

Visions was my favorite bit of Star Wars from 2021. In fact, until Andor came out, it was my favorite bit of Star Wars Disney had done. Overall it was a great show. The idea behind was genius and the execution’s pretty flawless. However, its one weakness was being so short! With that said, we are super excited to see the show coming back this year. It’s also got a bit of a twist. Instead of being solely focused on anime, it will branch out to other international animation styles. Overall this is a really cool move and should bring some great art to our TVs.

1. The Mandalorian Season 3

The Mandalorian is a major hit show. Overall it’s just a good story. After two stellar seasons, it’s no wonder why this tops the list of Star Wars shows we are looking forward to this year. I don’t really think I need to go into much detail here, people are dying to see what happens next for Mando and Baby Yoda. And based on the trailer, this season promises to be a doozy.
