Fitness models and cosplayers flock to this controversial yet iconic look from Return of the Jedi. These Slave Leia cosplays show why.

It’s easily the most recognizable and most controversial costume from the original Star Wars trilogy. Princess Leia is one of the most well-loved characters in the galaxy. And despite the actor’s trepidation with the costume, it has become an iconic fixture in the Star Wars Cosplay community.

The Slave Leia costume was custom molded to Carrie Fisher. And according to the legendary actress, it was so minimal that “If you stood behind me, you could see straight to Florida. You’ll have to ask Boba Fett about it.”

As the story goes, Carrie Fisher was disappointed with the lack of dynamic costumes in the Star Wars trilogy. Her concerns spawned the creation of the Slave Leia costume. It was created in a direct collaboration with George Lucas and the costume designers.

In the decades since Star Wars dropped on the pop-culture scene, fitness models have flocked to the iconic look. It has provided an excellent way to showcase their amazing musculature and physical prowess.

Fitness models are often bringing new life to classic characters and cosplays. Take this gorgeous Tomb Raider cosplay from Alyssa Loughran, or Chun Li by Yuan Herong.

“Luke is a Jedi; you’re his father. There’s still light in him. I know it.”

Governor Tarkin, I should have expected to find you holding Vader’s leash. I recognized your foul stench when I was brought on board.”

When did that ever help? And don’t say the Death Star.”
